Romans 6:1-11 Paraphrased as Christ Speaking

In Jesus’ Voice

What are you saying to Me?  Are you going to keep on sinning knowing the richness of the gift of grace that I have given to you?  Please, never say this to me!

I want you to be confident that you are completely dead to sin and death!  Those are the old ways of life.  I have given you a new life that flows from my very being.  I have made you part of Me.  This is why you are baptized into My name. When you are submerged in water all of your sin that was crucified by Me on the cross is buried forever; when you rise from the water you enter a new creation that is sustained by My life, including your new life!  Certainly, if you are buried with me unto death, I will not leave you in the grave to suffer and ruin the plans that were made before the foundation of the world.  My greatest desire is to fulfill My Father’s dream to bring you through that death into divine fellowship with us.

Dear child of mine, please understand that My life is the only antidote for sin.  The cross was the only way for me to save you from that incurable disease.  Sin is so powerful, that your cursed body had to be completely destroyed and made new for My life to take root in you.  Those of you who accept the antidote, a blood transfusion with Me, will be set free from the disease of sin!

Do not fear death!  It is good news for you because it is the gateway to living a new life with Me.  I conquered death itself.  It has no part in My new creation, and it has no power over Me or you.  I want you to know through your entire being that you are surely dead to sin, and thereby are alive inside of Me!

Don’t Be Surprised…

12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 1 Peter 4:12-14

The Eternal Dance

There’s an Irish hymn called Lord of the Dance.  It’s sung to the tune of Simple Gifts (tis a gift to be simple, tis a gift to be free…).  But why write a hymn about dancing?  I think it is because dancing is always linked to life.  We don’t dance at funerals; we dance at weddings.  We dance to celebrate.  We dance after a victory.  Living with the Lord’s indwelling life and in the community of the ekklesia is like a never-ending, life-giving dance with the creator of the cosmos, entwined together for eternity!  The chorus of the song goes like this:

Dance, dance wherever you may be,

I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.

And I’ll lead you all wherever you may be,

and I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

Jesus is…

Jesus is…

King Jesus

King Jesus is our head
The rest of Him are we
His body and His bride
This ancient mystery.

He raised us from the dead
And filled us with His life
He’s coming back again
To claim His holy wife!

This is part of a song we sing when our church gathers together.  Thank you Jesus that you call us to be Your body, You (and You alone) raise us from the dead, and You fill us with Your life!!!

Lord, You are so good!

Jesus in Creation

“If you explore the seven days of Creation in light of the New Testament, you will discover that everything in the visible creation is an image of Jesus.  For example:

Christ is light.  (John 8:12)
Christ is water.  (John 4:10; 7:38)
Christ is the life that emerged on the third day after the waters below the firmament were separated from the waters above.  (Death means separation.  Genesis 1:9-13; 1 Corinthians 15:4)
Christ is the true vine.  (John 15:1; 6:57)
Christ is wheat and the bread of life.  (John 12:24; 6:35)
Christ is the sun, the moon, and the morning star.  (Malachi 4:2)
Christ is the true Lamb.  (Colossians 2:16-17)
Christ is the model man.  (2 Peter 1:19; Revelation 22:16)
Christ is the real Sabbath.  (John 1:29.  See also Revelation 5.)”
