(adapted from 1 Corinthians 13:4-5)
Brothers and sisters, because of Christ’s love in us, we have patience and can bear the pains and trials of growing together calmly and without complaint. Because of Christ’s love in us, we can manifest forbearance when we are provoked or our fellowship is strained. Because of Christ’s love in us, we have kindness, and can be sympathetic, helpful, and gentle to each other. Because of Christ’s love in us, we do not have jealousy and can refuse to be hostile with one another over material objects, and we can encourage one another daily. Because of Christ’s love in us, we do not have arrogance, rather, we can recognize everyone’s worth and equality, and we can refuse to seek to position ourselves over each other. Because of Christ’s love in us, we do not act rudely; instead we avoid what would offend our brother or sister for their sake.
